Psychotherapy
A mental health professional is clinically trained to assess, diagnose and treat issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, obsessive patterning, developmental disorders, addictions, grief and trauma, to name a few. Additionally, a person seeking mental health counseling may have a difficult time establishing and/or maintaining meaningful relationships and/or struggle with the ability to deal with the everyday challenges of life.
Often, symptoms such as depression, anxiety, poor concentration in concert with poor self-esteem and self-defeating patterns (among others), are often the result of some type of experienced trauma. My focus throughout my career has been the resolution of trauma. A good mental health practitioner will tailor their approach to the individual and the goal of talk therapy is to assist the client in gaining insight along with developing strategies that can support healthy patterning. My style in providing mental health therapy is eclectic and leans toward being experiential and innovative. I like to reframe what some might refer to as a breakdown as a breakthrough and applaud the choice to more objectively examine the patterns that have become ineffective. I offer individual, family and couple counseling. From time to time, I also offer group counseling.
